I would like to thank everyone who gave generously towards the sponsored walk we achieved for the Great North Air Ambulance Service. Thanks again to the lads involved who all managed to walk the 25 miles around the five valleys of Cheviot. From the Breamish valley over to the Harthope, to the College valley and over the Border ridge to Cocklawfoot in the Bowmont valley, then up over the ridge to Clennell Street and down into Alwinton in the Coquet. We were very lucky with the weather which was not too hot and stayed dry. Thanks to Susan Rogers for printing the maps and a special thanks to Andy Burrows and his team the 4x4 RESPONSE NORTH EAST who volunteered to be our support team for the day supplying us with any medical help and refills of water which were appreciated. Check out the web site for some pictures on www.4x4rne.co.uk. The final total raised is £ 2,636 which is a fine achievement for the twelve of us and I am pleased to be able to help the charity with this amount.

David Girdwood has taken over from Chris Livsey as Vice Chairman of the Council for this year.
Following some valuable research done by Sue Rogerson for the Parish Council, options for refurbishment, reinstatement and replacement of the finger posts and signposts arc currently being costed for the Parish Council. Grants may be available from the District Council to help us with the funding of the work.
Concerns were raised at the Village Meeting about changes made to the timetable of buses in the village. The Parish Council were not consulted during this process and have therefore written to the County Council for clarification of the situation.
A petition was received by the Parish Council about the provision of a playground for the village. The Council agreed to support the parents on any project and will be contacting them in the near future.
2007 is election year for the Parish Councils and you may wish to stand as a Councillor. If you do the first task is to make sure you are on the electoral register. The District Council is responsible for maintaining the electoral register and they will be sending out the registration forms in the next couple of months. These are the normal forms we all receive every year. Nominations for the Parish Council will be called in March/April 2007 for the next elections in May 2007.
If you are interested in becoming a Parish Councillor and you want more information the Parish Council will arrange an evening where you can find out more about the work of the Parish Council. Please let any existing Parish Councillor know if you would be interested in attending an event, or better still let our Parish Clerk know. The event will take place early in 2007.
The current Parish Council members are Linda Lazenby (Parish Clerk), Stephanie Aston, Susan Collmgwood-Cameron, George Dodds (Chairman). Norman Dunn (Vice Chairman), Joe Easton, David Girdwood (Vice Chairman), John Guiry, Robert Johnston, Chris Livsey.
